This my first video of you I have watched. I never saw the use of water. For me this is a problem because I don't see the process as is. It's a nice drawing good advice but not a good tutorial for me. Many watercolor artist don't take this issue in consideration when they make tutorials. I know you work hard on yours tutorials don't mean to hurt your feelings.

Your videos never disappoint, and I always watch the whole thing. Like a good movie, I cannot wait for the next "scene". Your photography, talent, knowledge, and excellent speaking really gives the viewer an outstanding experience. JOKE: Me: I can fit all of my art supplies in one box. My husband: Stop calling our house a box. 🤣 QUESTION: How does one avoid using a detailed drawing as too much of a "crutch", turning it into a coloring book or paint by the numbers approach? (As opposed to a more creative, spontaneous approach.) I hope I expressed that well.

Every high school art student should watch this video. Fear is a real obstacle to learning. Planning a second version/attempt transforms "mistakes" into lessons and encourages experimentation, growth and confidence. Acknowledging and accepting your own interpretation of an image frees the artist from slavish perfectionism. Brava!

She paints the underpainting for the background, then does color blocking for the flower. That means putting color all over the painting so you are not confused. Just these two steps simplify a painting.

I also feel scared before the sketching bit and I love to aknowledge that and think: ok, this is perfect for me since I feel intimidated. If I didn't, it wouldn't be a big enough challenge for me! Love this peony! 🎉

Great tutorial! But once again, like basically every beginner tutorial on YT, it is assumed begonners have high-quality paints and acces to, in this example, both granulating as well as non-granulating paints. When in reality, most beginners have just 1 palette, using typically not the most high-quality paint or paper, and have to make do. Meaning that they will never get the same results. Still great though to have all these free tutorials, I am very grateful for that.

I love “ paint it twice”… I used to run away from ever doing this as I assumed I would get bored, not realizing how much I would learn, how much the image might improve or change in a new direction or how relaxed I would become as I knew the subject matter and what mistakes I did not want to repeat. I could watch you paint negative shapes all day… mesmerizing. ❤
